Washington State Convention Center
After performing a handful of events for the Japanese community, Kara was offered a position to help open the Washington State Convention Center, where she worked for 10 years, running conventions and events for groups of up to 100,000 attendees.

In 1996, Kara received the opportunity of a lifetime to work for the National Olympic Committee managing the 2 field hockey venues at the '96 Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia. Here she was in charge of 10 functional Area Managers and 2,500 staff & volunteers during the Olympic Games.

After returning home from the Olympics, Kara was hired to run 75+ tradeshows a year for Microsoft, including the Fall Comdex, Windows World, Internet World, Microsoft Tech Ed, Developers Conference, Ignite, Build and the Game Developers Conference.

In pursuing her desire to run all types of events, Kara branched off on her own and started TokitaBethune. Not only did she continue running Microsoft events, but was able to secure a host of other clients and event types, ranging from product launches to film festivals and golf tournaments. To date, TokitaBethune has run over 1,000 events, in 82 cities across 26 countries.
